Why do we need daily movement?

Moving your body daily is beneficial for your mental and physical health. It supports long-term health benefits irrespective of age or gender and helps us strengthen our muscles which improves overall stability, balance and coordination.

One aspect of the body that fascinates me and is so important in movement is, FASCIA. By definition "Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. The tissue does more than provide internal structure; fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin." Every night fascia grows within the body surrounding our muscles. It's for this reason that's crucial for us to move our body every day. Stretching and moving our body every day reduces the build up of fascia within the body, improving our mobility. This is vital as we age. As we age our bodies start to lose muscle memory and become stiffer making it more likely to suffer breaks and immobility. If we consciously focus each day on moving our bodies to reduce the fascia this will help us to build strength and flexibility as we age. So what are you waiting for? Get moving and stretch the fascia away!
