Lose Weight in 2020

The 2020 weight loss missions have started. If you're keen to shed some weight post-Christmas or perhaps just find some healthy balance in your daily lifestyle, here are my top tips:

  • Food Diary: keep a food diary to track your calorie intake. If you wish to lose weight you need to reduce your calorie intake and move more. My Fitness Pal, Fitbit are great options to use for tracking. Remember in any plan 80% nutrition 20% fitness.

  • Balanced plate: don't cut out food groups. Manage your portions and follow your calorie guidelines. Our bodies need all food groups including carbs.

  • Movement: find an activity you enjoy. Walking for at least 30mins per day is excellent. If you can add a HIIT, boxing, circuits, swimming or other training class 3 x times per week you'll be on the way to meeting your goals.

  • Hydration: drink at least 2 litres of water per day. Reduce caffeine intake. And always hydrate before you caffeinate. If you feel hungry drink a glass of water first.

  • Sleep: aim for at least 6-8 hrs of sleep per night. This is crucial for our bodies to rest and restore.

  • Reduce alcohol consumption.

  • Avoid processed food and fizzy juice.

  • Snacking: only if you're hungry snack on berries, 10 x almonds, fruit or vegetables

  • Mindful Eating: eat at the dining table with family and friends and if possible get away from your desk to enjoy your lunch.

Listen to your body! ~ if you need rest, REST ~ if you need sugar, have some sugar ~ don't deprive your body aim to find balance that works for you long term.

I believe the way to long lasting results is finding a healthy balanced approach to eating nutritious and wholesome food as well as embracing daily movement.

Good luck and if you have any questions get in touch!
