What brings you joy?

Take a moment and think about this question. What in life brings you the most joy and lights up your world? For many of us we become all too consumed with the daily grind of working and our incomes rather than focused on balance and finding true happiness in our lives.

In your weekly routine do you plan your joy? If not, why not? If you do, high five! Living a balanced life is crucial to health and happiness. Balance includes your nutrition, movement, mindfulness, relationships, career, spirituality, finances and joy to name just a few of the highlights. It's important we give them all equal time. Now of course this may go up and down at times depending on what is happening, but what's important is to recognise when we become imbalanced with certain aspects of our lives and then put them as a priority to help counter that balance. How to find your joy?

  • Take time to discover what you love to do outside of a job. You may love your job which is great but creativity is important. Challenge yourself to get creative.

  • Try new things - create a list of things you've always wanted to try and go do it. You will discover what you like and dislike.

  • Nature your inner child - what did you love to do as a child? What brought you the most joy? It's time to have fun and nature your inner child. No one told us when to stop having fun, so continue to discover, create and thrive.

  • Create time in your diary for you and your hobbie/interest every week. It may only be 30mins but get it in there.

  • Fill your own cup first - create your own joy and fill your life with positive energy before helping others with theirs. Remember on an aircraft you should put your mask on first before helping others - this is the same.

  • Have fun - life is short, create a life you love and enjoy.
